5 Tips for Relaxation

Relax Recharge Revive

How can I relax? We ask ourselves this question everyday - why is it so difficult to LET GO?

The first step to relaxation is correct breathing. Slow, deep breathing can break muscle tension patterns and let the mind grasp stressful concepts calmly. Registered Massage Therapists* (RMTs) coach each client in diaphragmatic breathing to achieve this relaxation response - try it out:

*RMTs have completed over 2200 training hours and are accredited by The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario or equivalent.

  1. Place your hand lightly on your abdomen.
  2. Close your eyes and relax your jaw.
  3. Breathe slowly and deeply through your nose. Feel your hand gently rise as the abdomen expands (this is your diaphragm expanding).
  4. Breathe out slowly and calmly through your mouth, feeling your hand gently lower as the breath leaves.
  5. Repeat three times.

You are now ready to face the world – repeat this wherever and whenever you need to relax and feel calm – it only takes one minute.
