Teams need to have a clear goal to work towards so that steps to achieve that goal can be collectively defined and the measure of success is also clear. The goal of team development should be to advance the maturity of the team to make them more effective as a high performing team. Each team member requires a set of core competencies to carry out their role including time management, project management, resourcefulness and dependability. Then to function as a team skill such as trust, effective communication, collaboration and co-operation skills need to developed.
