The Search For The Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine is a powerful and proven team building event that enlightens and entertains all types of organizations. Teams are outfitted in cowboy hats and colourful bandannas, given resources and a map, and have a limited amount of time to search for the gold from the famous Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine. Teams have 20 days of 2 minutes allotted for each day to manage their journey to the mine and back to Last Chance Gulch. They can choose from 3 paths with unknown risks, planning for weather and resource use. Along the journey, team members face many of the same issues and challenges that groups face in the real world: resource allocation, identifying and implementing the best practices to achieve their goal, and how to maximize their return on investment. The goal of the teams is simple: to have fun, return to Apache Junction, and mine as much gold as they can to maximize their Return on Investment.
The role of the Expedition Leader is to help the teams be successful and the key is to work together and have fun. This fast-paced, fun simulation creates multiple metaphors that are directly related to critical, real-world issues and objectives.
