Reinforcing the Code of Conduct
The Code of Conduct was already well-known at Crédit Agricole CIB and the participants have been living by it for quite a while. The objective was to reinforce it and bring it to life in a creative way. In order to do that, the Code was split into several themes based on the values it contained. For instance, the value “mutual respect” was allocated to one of the teams as the main focus throughout their video. They built their storyline based on the trust and friendship that reigns in the organisation. Another team concentrated on integrity and they wrote a story about a colleague falling ill and the whole team coming to the rescue by sharing the workload and showing support. Different types of storylines can be created to bolster any theme.
Extensive Storyboard Planning for Optimal Output
The storyboards started from a good place because the participants were familiar with the Code of Conduct and each team received a different theme based on the values.
The event marshals were briefed thoroughly towards the key objectives and key elements of the Code of Conduct so that they were very aligned with it. That enabled them to guide the participants towards being more original and serious with the storyboard process. The facilitator and event marshals also encouraged the teams to get thinking creatively along the lines and opened up space for dialogue to brainstorm and discuss the storyboard they were going to use for their ultimate trailer. The linkage with the themes was very strong for each team.
To conclude, the winning video was voted by all the participants. Before displaying each video trailer, the facilitator reminded everyone what the theme was for each video so that the participants could all be aware of what to look out for, as that could influence their vote. During the voting, the teams were very supportive of each other and genuinely impressed by what the other teams had produced. The winning team was showered with compliments and a round of emoji applause.
“It was a great initiative to reconnect the APAC Crédit Agricole CIB finance teams in APAC,” said the spokesperson. The output was impressive, the videos can be referred to throughout the year, can be used again to reinforce the Code of Conduct values.
Keys to Success
One of the main challenges was to continuously engage the participants for up to four hours. This seemed like a long time, but in the end, it was very achievable as there was a gamut of space for dialogue, creativity and commitment towards the storyboard planning.
The facilitator and event marshals were able to involve the teams with the values they had to incorporate and encourage them to think out of the box. The participants were able to engage with the process to work closely together as they understood the concept very clearly. The teams demonstrated excellent project management skills, creativity and innovation, and cooperation.
Blockbusters is a great concept for a team building activity, and it can be done remotely in several locations. It works well with participants and the resulting clips are quite impressive!
