Virtual town halls play an important role in aligning thoughts and building trust amongst remotely located teams. They improve their sense of belonging to the company.

Despite the increase in online meetings and town halls over the past year, they still lack authenticity and engagement. It all starts with preparation. With the following tips, you can easily inject interactions and authenticity into virtual townhalls:

1. Ensure your internet connection is strong and reliable. You can test your internet speed at SpeedTest.

2. Check the performance of your microphone and camera. Are they connected and working properly?

3. Connect a headset if possible, it will enhance the sound and microphone quality

4. Download and test any platforms that you’ll be using

5. Ensure your browser is updated to the latest version

6. Connect your devices to a power source

7. Close all applications and windows that are not required

8. Minimise the number of other devices connected to your Wi-Fi during the town hall

9. Log in to the town hall at least five minutes prior to meeting time

10. Participate! The more you invest, the more you’ll get out of it. Contribute to at least one idea or activity.

Here’s to well-prepared town hall hosts!
