Flat Out Formula One

Flat Out Formula 1 challenges teams to build and decorate a near full-size racing car from a flat pack kit in record time. Collaboration, creativity and process improvement drive success. The finale, a Grand Prix push race — fuels competitive spirit and celebrates teamwork with a podium finish.

Description

Teams race against the clock to construct a life-sized Formula 1 car from a kit. With teamwork and creativity, they decorate their cars to stand out on the track. Then it’s race time! With one driver at the wheel, teams push their cars to victory before celebrating with a podium ceremony.

Learning Outcomes

Flat Out Formula 1 demands clear communication, role allocation and close cross-functional teamwork to build and decorate the racing car within strict time limits. Teams must plan efficiently, share skills and adapt under pressure. Creativity is unleashed as they ‘pimp’ their car to catch the eye on the track. The final Grand Prix push race tests process improvement, as teams practise tight pit stops and refine tactics to gain an edge. This energising experience fuels healthy competition, strengthens problem-solving skills and showcases the importance of collaboration under pressure. Participants leave with a stronger team bond and a winning mindset.
