Frequently Asked Questions

Bridging The Divide

Bridging the Divide is a collaborative team building activity where teams design, build, and connect individual bridge sections into one fully functioning structure. Working under time constraints and with limited resources, participants must communicate effectively, manage stakeholder expectations, and collaborate across teams to ensure every bridge section fits together perfectly.

Each team is responsible for designing and constructing one section of a larger bridge according to specific customer requirements. Throughout the activity, teams must coordinate with one another, manage resources, exchange information, and overcome communication challenges. The experience concludes with every bridge section being connected into one giant structure, which is tested by driving a remote-controlled vehicle across it.

Unlike activities where each team works independently, Bridging the Divide creates interdependence. Every team acts as both a supplier and a customer, meaning the success of one group directly affects everyone else. This mirrors real business environments where departments must collaborate effectively to achieve shared organisational goals.

The programme develops essential workplace skills, including:

  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Communication
  • Project management
  • Strategic planning
  • Stakeholder management
  • Customer relationship management
  • Problem-solving
  • Leadership
  • Time management

Participants also experience how small communication gaps can have significant impacts on overall project success.

Bridging the Divide is ideal for leadership teams, project teams, cross-functional departments, conferences, corporate retreats, graduate programmes, and organisations looking to strengthen collaboration, communication, and project execution.

The programme is available in 2.5-hour, 3-hour, and 3.5-hour formats, making it suitable for conferences, leadership workshops, team offsites, and corporate events.

Yes. Bridging the Divide is designed for groups of 24 participants to unlimited numbers. Multiple teams work simultaneously before combining their bridge sections into one large collaborative structure, making it ideal for conferences and organisation-wide events.

Yes. Bridging the Divide can be delivered indoors or outdoors, depending on your venue and event requirements. It is commonly hosted in conference venues, hotels, corporate offices, and outdoor event spaces.

One of the programme's unique features is that every team depends on another team's work while also delivering work for others. This encourages participants to communicate clearly, manage expectations, and appreciate how collaboration between departments is essential for organisational success.

Yes. Participants develop leadership skills by planning projects, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, delegating responsibilities, managing limited resources, and making decisions under time pressure. The programme also reinforces the importance of leading beyond one's own team and considering the broader organisational impact.

Yes. Team Building Asia can tailor the programme to align with your organisation's learning objectives, leadership themes, conference agenda, or business priorities. Company branding, key messages, and strategic themes can also be incorporated into the experience.

Bridging the Divide helps organisations:

  • Improve cross-functional collaboration
  • Strengthen project management skills
  • Enhance communication across departments
  • Build trust between teams
  • Improve stakeholder management
  • Reinforce organisational alignment
  • Encourage strategic planning
  • Create a stronger understanding of shared accountability

The programme demonstrates that organisational success depends on every team working together toward a common objective rather than focusing solely on individual performance.

Once every team has completed its bridge section, all sections are assembled into one continuous bridge. The finale sees a remote-controlled vehicle driven across the entire structure, providing a memorable demonstration that success depends on the quality of every team's contribution and the strength of their collaboration.
