Robot Revolution

Robot Revolution immerses teams in the role of research scientists tasked with designing, building, and programming a collaborative robot (COBOT). Using Bluetooth connectivity and intuitive coding, teams compete for the prestigious ROBEL Prize by tackling a high-energy final challenge that showcases creativity, teamwork, and cutting-edge problem-solving skills.

Description

In Robot Revolution, teams build and code robots to set a new standard for COBOTS—robots that work alongside humans. Using step-by-step 3D instructions and Blockly coding, they program actions for their robots to perform. Teams must collaborate, plan, and innovate to win the final competitive showcase and impress the judges.

Learning Outcomes

Robot Revolution is an immersive, hands-on experience that strengthens collaboration and communication. Team members tap into creativity and problem-solving as they decide which tasks their robot will perform and how best to achieve it. The activity develops skills in project management, effective delegation, and resource allocation as teams juggle building, programming, and designing test tracks. Participants gain valuable practice in maintaining attention to detail while keeping sight of overall goals—avoiding silos and staying aligned. By working toward a shared objective under time pressure, individuals learn to recognise and utilise each other’s strengths, building trust, teamwork, and a culture of innovation they can apply back at work.
